She Looked Back

She lifts up her bag,
She looks like she wouldn’t turn back,
For the first time I see in her a cloud that’s dark,
Salty tears on her cheek that leaves a mark.

Clueless I ask what’s up,
Is this the way I’ll be dumped?
Is it a nightmare that in am trapped?
My heart failed not even a blood pump.

I held her hand,
Dropped her bag and hugged me tight,
This was a goodbye one,
I didn’t want to let go.

She said she is done playing her man,
She wants to remain with one,
To make her future clan,
Painful but that was her plan.

She walked away,
Stop I wanted to say,
I prayed for a time delay,
Until she looked back and ran back to my arms.
